Exhaust gas compression is a proven technology to provide a cost effective and environmentally friendly solution to produce non-corrosive gas for injection. Potential EGS Applications
Oil Reservoirs (Enhanced Oil Recovery)
- On average 65-70% of original oil in place is not recovered
- Flue gas injection could increase oil recoveries by 5-30%
- CO2 would mainly be sequestered safe storage
Gas Reservoirs (Enhanced Gas Recovery)
- 15-40% of original gas in place is not recovered
- Flue gas injection could increase recovery by 5-15%
- CO2 could then refill the reservoir to be stored
Carbon Storage in Aquifers (CCS)
- Very little is known about most aquifers, only a few suitable for CCS
- Need to prove aquifers are suitable before spending $B on Capture
